  10. The following is a short list of ICC commands to help you get started.
  11. A complete list of ICC commands, with on-line descriptions, is available
  12. by typing "help commands".
  13.  
  14. who       --> the who command shows the users currently logged in
  15. players   --> shows a list of players open for matches
  16. match     --> challenges specified player to a match
  17. accept    --> accepts a match challenge from another user
  18. abort     --> sends an abort request to your opponent
  19. adjourn   --> sends a request for adjournment to your opponent
  20. draw      --> sends a request for a draw to your opponent
  21. resign    --> resigns the current match
  22. shout     --> sends your message to all users listening to shouts
  23. tell      --> sends your message to specified recipient
  24. message   --> leaves a message for specified recipient
  25.               (shows yours if no name given)
  26. finger    --> shows file of specified user (your file if no name given)
  27. help      --> lists all the command help files
  28. help file --> shows the specified help file.
  29. info      --> lists all the information files
  30. quit      --> exits ICC
  31.  
  32. There are some important help files you should know about.  To read any of
  33. these, just type "help filename" on ICC.  You can also mail them with the
  34. "mailhelp filename" command.

  36. For info on graphical interfaces, type "help interface".

  38. commands:      A complete list of all ICC commands, with one-line descriptions.
  39. Manuals:       Tells how to get complete manuals.
  40. index:         An index to the introductory files to help you enjoy ICC more.
  41. value:         A list of exciting current and upcoming ICC features.
  42. event:         A list of upcoming ICC events!  Grandmasters, lectures, etc.
  43. event-all:     A list of all previous events on ICC.
  44. channels:      A list of discussion groups you can join.
  45. GMs, IMs, FMs: Lists of FIDE titled players on ICC.
  46. atmosphere:    The atmosphere on ICC and how we hope to keep it pleasant.
  47. agreement:     The agreement between the ICC and its members.
  48. incentive:     The Membership Incentive Program.
  49. interfaces:    Graphical interfaces available for use with ICC.
  50. vars:          Lists all your variables and how to change them.
  51. list:          All the "lists" that you can view or modify.
  52. MarketPlace:   List of companies selling chess books, magazines, PC programs. 
  53. reg:           How to register, and reasons to register.
  54. fees:          ICC membership fees.

  56. If you have any questions, help is available on-line by talking to the help
  57. channel (channel 1) or by talking to admins.  Admins are listed by "in 0".

  61. ***** INTERFACES *****

  63. GRAPHICAL INTERFACES FOR ICC allow you to see a chess board on your screen
  64. and make moves with a mouse.  Steps to follow to get one:
  65.  
  66. 1) Choose an interface from the list below according to your computer setup.
  67.  
  68. 2) Get the interface software in one of 3 ways:
  69.    a) Using "ftp" to FTP.LM.COM (username: anonymous, password:
  70.       your email).  Do "cd pub/icc/interface", then "cd" to the directory
  71.       listed below for the interface you want to get.  If you are on a PC
  72.       or Mac, transfer it using zmodem or kermit.  "help ftp" for more info.
  73.  
  74.    b) use a web browser (like mosaic or netscape):  URL:
  75.       http://www.hydra.com/icc/ --or-- ftp://ftp.lm.com/pub/icc/interface/
  76.  
  77.    c) If you can't get (a) or (b) to work, and you have a Mac or PC, we
  78.       can mail you a disk with the software.  Just send a message to Zek
  79.       on ICC, or send an email request to amcfarl@wko.com
